Block Paving Cleaning & Sealing

Throughout Worcestershire block paving is a popular surface choice by many homeowners. However, it is more difficult to maintain than expected, due to the composition of the blocks themselves, the way they are laid, and the fact that in the UK we often have long spells of wet weather.

Due to these damp conditions this encourages moss, algae and lichen to grow on the surface of the blocks. The joints between the blocks are filled with kiln dried sand, this helps the paving maintain its structure. In time this sand is displaced and weeds can grow and in time damage your driveway. So not only for appearance, but the structural integrity it is important to maintain your investment.

Chris James Cleaning specialise in cleaning block paved driveways throughout Worcestershire, Gloucestershire and Warwickshire, using the following Cleaning methods and specifically designed equipment, this ensures excellent results without causing damage to your driveway.

Our Comprehensive 6-step Cleaning Process

  • Firstly, we sweep your drive and remove all weeds and moss prior to cleaning to reduce the mess
  • We then pressure wash the area starting with our rotary cleaner, this reduces the loss of jointing sand
  • Following this we rinse the area with our turbo lance, this will also tackle all the intricate areas the rotary may miss, and help deal with tyre marks, oil spills and algae etc.
  • Included in our service as standard is the application of our anti algae treatment to prevent moss and algae growth for as long as possible. (This is not a seal) This is applied and left to dry naturally and wont effect the appearance of your drive in anyway.
  • Then once fully dry we re-apply the kiln dried sand to the joints, this ensures no movement in the future due to the loss of sand during the cleaning process.
  • The final step is optional but recommended, we can apply a protective seal to enhance the appearance and durability. This creates a non-permeable membrane over the surface to help keep algae and lichen at bay, and therefore reducing the maintenance of your driveway.

We also clean and restore concrete and tarmac driveways using the same methods, however the kiln dried sand is not required.

Patios and Pathways

At Chris James Cleaning, we specialise in cleaning all types and styles of patio’s and paths across Worcestershire including the following:

  • Natural stone
  • Block paving
  • Pre-cast paving slabs
  • Imprinted concrete
  • Crazy paving
  • Paving Slabs

Patios can be the main feature of any garden, but also an eyesore if not maintained. The majority of paving, natural and manmade, are very porous and allow algae and moss to develop on the surface, not only unsightly, but it can also be very slippery when damp.

Our pressure cleaning process is tough enough to clean your patios and pathways leaving them beautifully clean but without damage.

We also as standard apply our anti algae treatments once cleaned to help prevent the rapid build up of algae and moss. In addition to this we can use a range of seals to offer further protection, and even enhance the look of your patio or pathway.
